Awakening:
2021 Seoul International Writers’ Festival

The Seoul International Writers’ Festival(SIWF) is a global literary festival that launched in 2006, to expand opportunities to enjoy literature and provide a platform for international exchange in Seoul. Between 2006 and 2019, a total of 217 writers from 54 countries were invited to take part.

SIWF in 2021 wants to ponder upon, and take in, the things that have changed completely since the pandemic. Crisis and misery come from us, and it will also be our duty to overcome them. From now on, literature will spend time questioning and awakening its role in this world. Through this festival, we would together become aware and then fortify our willingness to start over. 

In this design, we wanted the word ‘Awakening’ to not just focus on the individual’s inner meditation. It was intended to show a design where everyone awakens and considers literature of today’s impact on the world. We wanted to reveal this purpose of the event by using sparkling patterns that rotate within each alphabet.
